The Challenge

The company faced a critical regulatory and operational challenge which required it to make a geographical switch of its RDS database infrastructure to a region where AWS services were not available. 

This posed significant risks regarding the company’s ability to comply with local regulations, leading to a need to migrate their setup for storage while ensuring uninterrupted service for their customers and users.

The Solution: EDB Software with Stormatics Implementation

Stormatics was brought into the equation to architect and implement a robust solution tailored to the growing FinTech’s needs. The solution involved the implementation of products from EDB, a leading Postgres provider and strategic Stormatics partner, to provide reliability and performance that was at par with AWS RDS, which included:

• • High Available (HA) Cluster with Disaster Recovery: Configuration of a cluster with a remarkable 99.99% availability rate, ensuring services remain uninterrupted, even in the face of potential disasters. The primary and standby nodes were created in two cities – more than 1,200 km apart – to ensure compliance with local data storage regulations.
  
  • EDB’s Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for Security: Implementation of EDB’s TDE to secure sensitive customer data, addressing regulatory and security concerns while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality. Key management was done using HashiCorp Vault to facilitate failover cluster setup. 
  
  • EDB 24/7 Support: Provision of round-the-clock support by EDB, ensuring long-term reliability and operational excellence for the company’s mission-critical database infrastructure.

The Result

Stormatics not only met but exceeded expectations by completing the infrastructure overhaul two months ahead of the given deadline. This proactive approach allowed the company to seamlessly transition to a compliant and highly available infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted service for its rapidly growing user base and reinforcing its position as a leader in the local FinTech landscape.
